Job: Network Engineer

The Network Engineer will design and maintain the mesh network product capability to support a distributed sensor network for military use. The network must be dynamic and operate in an environment without any other networking infrastructure.

You will research and test potential hardware, design the network and security, and oversee deployments as well as manage and enhance existing network infrastructure.


  • 3+ years of experience in designing, deploying/configuring and operating medium scale wireless/mesh networks
  • Must be comfortable working in Linux with background in Wireless Subsystem Preferred
  • Working knowledge of and experience with the physical and data link layers of communication or networking systems such as a typical networking stack i.e. Ethernet, UDP/TCP/IP/ICMP and the Communications protocols – OSI stack for example distributed/decentralized protocols, routing, network coding, forward error correction, medium access control, cognitive radio, software-defined radio, spectrum efficiency, dynamic spectrum access, wired/wireless network monitoring, network analysis and management
  • Knowledge of IEEE .11 standards including 802.11/WLAN protocols and algorithms for Scanning, Association, Authentication, Security, Roaming, Relay / Mesh etc
  • Knowledge of wireless security – .1x, RADIUS, WPA2, EAP-TLS, PSK, general PKI concepts
  • Ability to work independently and analyze, troubleshoot wireless performance issues while maintaining wireless network performance by analyzing network stability
  • At least one certification such as CWNA or higher
  • Resolve problems performing radio frequency (RF), wireless coverage tests and gather survey data
  • Identify the need for network upgrades and enhancements
  • Maintain system resiliency
  • Setup testing environment, program network devices, evaluate and test algorithms and protocols
  • Experience preparing both onsite and predictive wireless coverage (heat) maps and assessments, using applications such as AirMagnet

Military experience preferred

Preferred but not required knowledge of at least 1 programming language, e.g. Python, C/C++, Java, JavaScript and Basic Understanding of RF internals
